Passing of 106 Year Old Coin Collector

A recent article in the New York Times describes the  life of coin enthusiast, Eric Newman who passed away a week ago. I enjoy history, and this article about his life and the coins he collected was very engaging. My condolences go out to his family and friends. His story was worth more than the value of the coins he collected.

A new article at theindependent.com gives some facts about the hated penny. The fact that people use them for other things besides money just reinforces the fact that these things completely fail at their only purpose. Let's abandon these worthless blights on humanity.

Penny Floor at the Barber Shop

A barber shop owner decided to "tile" the floor of his shop with pennies here. It looks pretty cool, and I'm sure he was able to do it much cheaper than actually paying for tile, so a win for him.

A town in Michigan is refusing a man's payment of a fine in pennies here. Though they are willing to accept them if rolled. The guy is just bringing them in bags right before the city offices close. They should start charging the guy interest too. I understand the man's right to protest the fine, but paying in pennies should not be an option at all. We shouldn't have these dumb things at all.

This article by Forbes, considers the Cost, Worth, and Value of the penny, as once again it's cost exceeded its value this past year. These are the questions that really need answering to show that the penny is not worth its cost to the US taxpayers, or anyone else.

Another frustrated DMV Customer

A Virginia man sticks it to the local DMV here by paying his $3000 bill in 5 wheel barrows full of pennies. This is crazy insanity. Why is anyone allowing this kind of idiocy to continue? All you have to do, Federal Government I'm talking to you, is stop making these stupid things. Make life better for all, please.
